It Is Arrogant For First Lady To Reject Salary And Refund Allowances Paid To Her - Executive Director Of ASEPA

The executive director of the Alliance for Social Equity And Public Accountability (ASEPA), Mr Mensah Thompson, has blasted the first lady of the Republic of Ghana, Her Excellency Mrs Rebecca Akufo-Addo, calling her arrogant for rejecting the proposed allowances to be paid to the first and second ladies of the country.

This comes as a response from the executive director to the first lady following a release that came out from the office of the first lady in the late hours of yesterday, stating that the first lady had decided to reject the proposed salary to be paid to her and also had decided to refund all allowances paid to her ever since her husband became the president of the country.

Speaking in an interview closely monitored by Phelad Media Gh, Mr Mensah Thompson stated that Mrs Rebecca Akufo-Addo showed no respect to the entire citizenry and has exhibited arrogance for making that move.

He added that, the first lady could have done better by paying back all other expenses that the country has incurred on her which include free fuel for her vehicle, free utility, free medical care among others.

He went ahead and explained that Ghanaians never asked the first lady to reject the offer or refund any amount, instead the cryout was all channeled to the president to hold on to that proposal considering the hardships the people are going through as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic and other factors.

He then ended by questioning the first lady to be accountable for the sum of the Ghc 89,000 and over that she has paid as a refund to the allowance she had been receiving ever since her husband became the president of the country.
