The National Identification Authority has begun talks with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Information Technology Agency (NITA) to get two separate certifications to make the move of Ghana Card reality.
Prefessor Kenneth Agyemang Atafuah, the executive director of the NIA announced this move during an interview with Asaase radio on Monday 21th July, 2021.
He stated that the NIA had a meeting with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on last Friday which they talked about the modalities for getting two things done about the Ghana Card.
He voiced that one is on boarding of passport and data integration with the passport office and the other is on how to use the Ghana card to travel outside the Country.
He indicated that the Ghana card is a very powerful tool which has an electronic passport already installed on it which makes it valid for traveling within the west African sub-region.
From all indications, Ghanaians will soon be able to use the Ghana card as a passport to travel across the globe.
