Nana Piabo IV, Tufohene of Daboase in the Wsssa East District of the western region, has raised a worrisome alarm that teenage pregnancy is on the ascendancy in the area.
From their checks so far, the chief attributed this act to tricycle riders in the area seeing that the the ones who have been lioran these innocent and vulnerable girls with indomie and takeaway foods and sleeping with them carelessly impregnating them at the end.
"The cause of all these problems is that the Aboboyaa and Pragya riders are using indomie to entice the girls and impregnating them. We have issued several warnings to them but still nothing is changing. We have again deployed several attempts to stop this trend but someway somehow the girls themselves go to them. The most interesting part is that these girls for within 13 and 16 years, he revealed".
Speaking with reporters at Daboase, Nana Piabo IV indicated that the traditional authority tried instituting communal laws to combat social vices in the area but to no avail. He again blamed part of this unsuccessful move on the parents who have no proper supervision for their children in the area.
"We have communal laws especially the ones that guide the activities of children but we are not getting the cooperation of parents. The parents here are making things difficult for us thereby making the laws ineffective. For example, children below 18 years and not allowed to partake in any funeral activities and that is the law but the parents are not enforcing it rendering the law ineffective".
He again revealed that, a number of parents cannot even fend for themselves let alone to add their children so they do not care to know the whereabouts of their children when they are going to sleep. These parents tend to leave their children to fend for themselves hence easily lured by these riders with any invaluable material and sleeping with them impregnating them at the end.
