48-Year-Old mechanic Sentenced For Damaging Fence Wall At Akufo Addo's Residence (Details)

 


Antaru Issaka, a 48-year-old mechanic and a resident of Nima-Accra, has today Wednesday 19th May, 2021 been fined to pay an amount of GHC960 or in default, serve an eight week jail term for breaking a small portion of President Akufo Addo’s residence wall and a telephone pole for the house.

 

Issaka, charged with careless and inconsiderate driving, causing damage, driving without a license, use of a motor vehicle with an expired license policy and use of a motor vehicle with an expired roadworthy certificate, pleaded guilty in the court presided over by Ama Adomako Kwakye.

 

According to Sgt Apeweh Achana, Issaka the mechanic was driving a Mercedes-Benz ML 320 with registration number GS 5885 Z from Nima roundabout, heading towards Nima Junction through the El-Waleed Bin Talaa road on Saturday 15th may, 2021 around 3:30 pm.

 

He continued that Issaka upon reaching a section of the road close to President Akufo Addo’s residence, Issaka alleged that the vehicle’s brakes failed and to avoid hitting the vehicles in front of him, he turned off the road and hit into the fence wall of the President’s residence, causing damage to the wall and a telephone pole.

 

Sgt Apeweh concluded that, further investigation revealed that Issaka was unlicensed driver driving a vehicle with expired insurance policy and had no roadworthy certificate.

 

Meanwhile, a close source to Phelad Media GH reveals that the poor mechanic disclosed to the police the obvious fact that the said vehicle was on test from a mechanic shop in Nima.
